AI Business

Utilizing AI and data science,
Cultivating digital transformation talent to bring change to companies

Special Features of the Department

  • Special Features of the Department
  • Our goal is to cultivate DX (Digital Transformation) professionals who, having a solid understanding of business administration principles, can leverage digital tools, AI, and data science to generate profits for companies.

    Three points

    • Understanding and utilizing AI and data science
    • Plenty of practical business-related exercises
    • Learn programming languages for AI development

Flow of the four years

  • First year

Learn the basics of management and AI, and acquire basic skills and self-study skills for AI business.

In [Introduction to Business Management A/B], you will get a grasp of the basics and overall picture of business management, and through [Introduction to AI Business], you will learn the basics of AI and how AI is being used in society and business. In [Business Data Science Basics A/B], you will learn about statistics, which is one of the foundations that support AI. Through group work, you will develop the ability to analyze data, interpret the results obtained, and communicate them to third parties.

    e.g.

Introduction to Business Management A/B, Introduction to AI Business, Fundamentals of Business Data Science A/B

  • Second Year

Learn the power of digital to transform society by learning the essence of DX

In [DX Design Theory] and [DX Project], students learn how to plan and promote DX in society and companies, and experience DX firsthand and understand its essence through planning and promoting actual projects. In [Mathematics for Data Science], students learn the basics of matrices and differentials, which are the basis of AI development and data science, and actually experience creating a simple AI. This is the year in which students will lay the groundwork to become "DX talent."

    e.g.

DX design theory, DX projects, mathematics for data science

  • Third Year

Learn about cutting-edge technologies surrounding AI and take on challenges that cannot be solved by AI alone.

In [AI Business], you will develop the ability to consider business models for systems that utilize AI. On top of that, you will learn about app development in [DX Design Application A/B] and about AI development for predictive purposes in [Machine Learning Basics], and acquire the skills necessary to solve problems. When trying to solve problems, you may encounter problems that cannot be solved by AI alone. Rather than focusing only on AI, you will learn about a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and take on a variety of challenges.

    e.g.

AI business, DX design application A/B, machine learning basics

  • Fourth Year

Spread your wings and take to the world as "DX talent" who bring about change through AI and various cutting-edge technologies

In [Machine Learning Application] and [DX Design Application C], you will increase your expertise in DX and data science. In [Seminar III/IV], you will practice what you have learned so far through collaboration with various companies and organizations in society, proving that you have the ability to play an active role in society as a "DX talent," and this will be the year you take off into society.

    e.g.

DX Design Application C, Machine Learning Application

Class Introduction

  • DX Design Application A/B/C

Person in charge: Associate Professor Yoshimitsu Morinishi

Students learn how to change lifestyles and cultures through digital transformation and build mechanisms for companies to earn continuous profits. The scope of study is wide-ranging, including thinking up mechanisms for streamlining corporate operations, developing apps that solve social and everyday problems, and researching business design in the metaverse.

  • Machine Learning Fundamentals

In charge: Associate Professor Yuki Matsui

This course teaches the fundamentals of data analysis using Python, as well as the concepts of machine learning and data science. Combining statistics and programming, students will develop the ability to apply their understanding of the meaning and background of various methods to real-world data analysis. The goal is to acquire the skill to select and utilize appropriate algorithms according to the objective.

  • Mathematics for Data Science

Person in charge: Associate Professor Naohiro Tsuchida

To learn data science, mathematical knowledge such as vectors, matrices, and differentials is essential. In this course, students in liberal arts who have not studied mathematics much can learn the necessary mathematics from the basics.

Student Interview

Why did you choose this major?

I chose this major because I wanted to learn about businesses that utilize AI technology, which has become an indispensable part of our lives. By understanding the fundamentals of AI, which is constantly evolving, I want to be able to utilize it rather than rely on it, and tackle difficult problems. I aspired to this major with the goal of realizing a society where AI and humans can coexist.

What are you particularly focusing on learning?

I am studying how companies are using AI in their daily operations in order to create new businesses using AI as a tool. In particular, I am paying attention to cutting-edge examples such as predicting hit products and personalized marketing for each customer. I am not just learning about the potential of AI, but also analyzing specific ways to use it to achieve results in the field and working to acquire practical knowledge.
