Since the surrender of Japan during the Second World War, Japan has been concentrate on developing its economics and then fruitfully emerged as a major economic power in the world by the end of 1970s. However, the emergence of Japan as a military giant and its occupation of East Asia and Southeast Asia during the Second World War in fact had left tremendous impacts upon Japan itself and the countries occupied by her. When Japan was under the General Headquarters of the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers administration, several changes was establish in Japan’s economics and politics. One of he most significant feature is the prohibition of leading war or maintaining an army as stated in Article Nine of Japan’s Constitution.

Nonetheless, a number of developments happened after the Cold War and in the new millennium like new arrangement of geopolitics, push from United States and ambitions and aspirations from some politicians in Japan itself manifested certain shifts in the original principle of Article Nine.
