Change to Class Hours from the 2022 Academic Year

　Starting in the first semester of 2022, Reitaku University will change class length from 90 minutes to 100 minutes. In conjunction with this change, the length of each teaching period will be shortened from 15 weeks to 14 weeks.

　By changing the class length from 90 minutes to 100 minutes, we will promote the combined use of 14-week and 7-week classes. This will allow for more flexibility in the development of classes by faculty members, and will further expand the variety and attractiveness of classes using flip teaching and active learning methods, with the aim of encouraging students to work proactively for a deeper learning experience. In addition, by shortening the length of the teaching period, it will be possible to offer more opportunities for study abroad, and for volunteer and extracurricular activities. The entire university will take the opportunity of this change to make further improvements so that your learning environment and student life will be more fulfilling.

　However, the total length of daily class hours will be extended, which is expected to affect the learning environment and student life. We would like to ask all students for their understanding during the implementation of the new class schedule.

Outline of the Change in Class Length

１．The new class hours will be effective from the first semester of 2022
２．Intended Schools: Undergraduate and Graduate schools
３．Purposes:

（１）To promote the development of a variety of class activities using flipped teaching and active learning methods, for instance, rather than simply extending each class by 10 minutes.
（２）To further develop a variety of programs to meet students' desire to learn, thus enhancing educational effectiveness.
（３）To provide greater opportunities for extracurricular activities such as study abroad, volunteer activities, and fieldwork with the introduction of the 14-week class period.

４．Class Hours

1st period	8:50 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.	9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
2nd period	10:40 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.	10:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Lunch break	12:20 p.m. to 1:10 p.m.	12:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m.
3rd period	1:10 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.	1:10 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
4th period	3:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.	2:50 p.m. to 4:20 p.m.
5th period	4:50 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.	4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
6th period	6:40 p.m. to 8:20 p.m.	6:10 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.

※The class schedule for the academic year 2022 will be released in March. First semester classes are scheduled from early April to late July, and second semester classes from late September to mid-January.
