“Don’t put the expectations of yourself on other people.” Everyone is different and has had different experiences, so if you expect people to behave the way you do, or do things the way you would, then you’ll continuously be left disappointed.
I usually spend a lot of time hanging out with my friends in the Tokyo area. I also like to eat at nice French restaurants, or drink coffee at an independent coffee shop or cafe. I also enjoy bouldering or rope climbing on my days off, too. But truthfully, most of my time is spent at home lounging around on my sofa while watching Netflix. If I’m not doing any of those things, then I’m most likely in an onsen or sauna somewhere.
Travel! I would probably go somewhere like Eastern Europe because I can take advantage of how close they are to each other, so it would be easy to travel between each country and I could try and make a challenge out of it. Maybe something like, 7 days 7 countries or 7 days 14 countries. I think that I could easily backpack my way around if I were to do that.
I don’t think that there’s a specific day, if there was I probably wouldn’t change it anyway, because it’s probably something that I learnt from or shaped me. However, sometimes I regret taking life too seriously. Instead of immediately teaching at universities after graduating, I sometimes wish that I travelled for a year, or volunteered somewhere or did something that wasn’t so career oriented. It’s hard to say that I regret it though, because I really do love what I do.
In Europe, I would always recommend Austria. It’s such a beautiful country and quite scenic no matter where you go. In South East Asia, Vietnam. Vietnam is a very close second on my list of favourite countries (Japan is number one, of course). In the Caribbean, my island Montserrat (yes, I’m biased). Montserrat is a very quiet, very small and a very picturesque island in the Caribbean and of course, where I was born. What’s not to love about having hot weather all year round, lots of sandy beaches, and great food?

I am not much of a fictional book reader, but I did quite enjoy reading ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ by Tomi Adeyemi. I particularly love how the characters are described, especially in relation to being black. She took what is normally considered a dull and boring colour and brought it to life in such descriptive ways.
